DCLA Non-Member Damage Recovery & Eviction Assistance Service
Service Overview:
This service is designed for property owners who are not members of the DC Landlord Association (DCLA) but need professional assistance in recovering damages from a tenant and/or co-signer and pursuing possession of their rental property if necessary.
What This Service Includes:
Tenant/Co-Signer Contact:
DCLA will contact the tenant and/or co-signer regarding unpaid damages to the unit totaling rougly $10,000 (flooring damage).
A formal request will be made for the damages to be settled within 10 days.
Notice to Quit Preparation (If Necessary):
If the damages are not resolved within the 10-day period, DCLA will prepare a 30-day Notice to Quit, ready for the property owner to have served to the tenant.
Complaint for Possession (If Necessary):
If the tenant fails to comply within the 30-day notice period, DCLA will prepare a Complaint for Possession, in both English and Spanish, for the property owner to have served.
Important Details:
This service is non-refundable.
This service does not include DCLA membership.
Service is limited to preparation and documentation; all legal filings and service of notices must be executed by the property owner or their authorized agent.
