Meteorologists are warning that the Washington, DC region could face severe storms Monday, including damaging winds, heavy rain, and possible tornadoes as a powerful storm system moves through the Mid-Atlantic.

The greatest threat window is expected from mid-afternoon into the evening, when storms may produce wind gusts exceeding 65–75 mph and isolated tornadoes, which could lead to downed trees, property damage, and scattered power outages across the region.

During the Storm: Prioritizing Safety

During severe weather events, the primary concern is safety.

Landlords should:

  • Encourage tenants to stay indoors and away from windows

  • Wait until conditions are safe before inspecting properties

If a tornado warning is issued, tenants should move to interior rooms or basements away from windows.
